A New Perspective

This week I found myself looking back at a new reflection…

Locks of Love Donation - new hair style

After sending ten inches of hair to Locks of Love

Locks of Love Donation - Pony Tail

I found myself with a new hair style, and a new perspective.

In the months of growing out my hair, I focused on the the result – a wig and perhaps comfort and esteem for the recipient. What I didn’t expect was how I would benefit!

Chatting with my stylist, I felt energized. From the moment she cut my hair, I felt lighter! And, in the days that followed, my new ‘do inspired me to see things through a different lens.

I realized that as I grew accustomed to my new reflection, I went through stages that typically accompany changes in our lives.

First, I was afraid, I was comfortable with how things were (I had grown accustom to hair flowing down my back). Next, I was stunned that it didn’t quite look like what I expected (this new cut was really short). Then, I started to recognize the possibilities (I could go curly, pull it straight, event sculpt it a bit). I became invigorated as I explored my options (different styles and accessories). I learned what worked and what didn’t, and before I knew it, I was not only working from this new perspective, I owned it! It was that simple…from fear to flair in one weekend!

Today, what are you going to do to open up a new perspective?
